Inua Mama Initiative leaders have said they would oppose the yet to be released Building Bridges Initiative report unless it increases opportunities for women and the pastoralists.
Speaking in Lorengelup, Turkana central constituency, the women leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto said they fully back President Uhuru Kenyatta and said come 2022 they would vote for Ruto.
Chairperson of the Inua Mama initiative Alice Wahome who is also the Kandara MP said they want resources shared according to the population.
“As Mount Kenya leaders we have said that our stand is one man one vote one shilling,” said Wahome.
Her sentiments were echoed by Nyeri County Woman MP Rahab Mukami who said they will seek to increase the equalization fund for the marginalized communities.
Kajiado nominated senator Mary Seneta defended the Tanga Tanga team saying the pastoralist communities will shoot down the BBI report if it does not address needs of women and pastoralist communities.
On matters politics the leaders said they would back Ruto in 2022.Turkana Women MP Joyce Emanikor who hosted the 23 MPs said they will support Ruto in 2022.
“We agreed its 10 years for Uhuru and 10 years for Ruto,” she said.
Turkana central MP John Lodepe who has declared interest in the gubernatorial seat lauded the jubilee government for initiating road projects in the county.
He said that in 2022 the community shall vote based on a performance delivery.
Emanikor said the county is ripe for a Ruto presidency. “As Turkana County we are not waiting to be wooed we were wooed long time by Ruto and we accepted to vote for Ruto,” she said.
All the 23 leaders urged the Turkana central constituents to support Emanikor in her bid for the seat in 2022.
Garrisa woman MP Anab Gure said come 2022 the Jubilee team shall give back to William Ruto as agreed in 2013.
” We agreed to support Uhuru Kenyatta for 10 years and then support William Ruto for 10 years, we shall not relent,” said Anab.
Tana River woman MP Rehema Hassan vowed to support Emanikor in her bid.” In Jubilee we know our next president is William Ruto,” she said.
Other leaders present included Beatrice Kones,-Bomet East MP, Lilian Tomitom -West Pokot, Soipan Tuya- Narok woman MP , Florence Jematia- East Africa MP, Beatrice Nkatha- Tharaka Nithi MP, Joyce Korir-Bomet women rep, Florence Bore- Kericho, Janet Sitieni -Turbo MP, Janet Nangabo -Trans Nzoia MP, Tecla Tum Nandi MP, Jayne Kihara- Naivasha MP, Falhada Iman nominated senator, Naomi- Waqo nominated senator.
