Exam Officials Held for Cheating

Five KCPE officials have been arrested in West Pokot County for allegedly engaging in examination malpractices.

Confirming the incident, the area county commissioner Apollo Okello said a PTA teacher Vincent Lorma was caught taking pictures of science exam question paper in the exam room using his Mobile phone at Kapterema Primary School in Pokot North Sub County.

Okello pointed out that no teacher is allowed to be in the school compound during exam period and wondered how the same teacher sneaked into the exam room.

The commissioner said, they are investigating the reason behind taking photos while pupils were sitting for their science paper.

“All teachers are not allowed to be in their schools during exam period and only center managers who are the head teachers are mandated to be in charge.  We are investigating who allowed him and why he was taking photos in the exam rooms,” he said.

Apollo added that those arrested with the teacher were centre manager Flora Soprin, the supervisor John Limangura, the invigilator Godfrey Ochieng and the national police reservist Longolekau Lonyangiro who was manning the school.

He said the five culprits who are being held at Kacheliba police station will be arraigned before the court in Kapenguria law courts.

Apollo said the arrangement has been made and new officials deployed to make sure day 3 exam is done as scheduled.

“We shall not allow any room of cheating and those planning during the KCSE won’t be spared.  All machineries have been put in place to see to it that the form four exams take place smoothly,” he said
