Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichillo and his Deputy Dr. Patrick Saisi have finally struck a deal that puts to rest their long standing differences.
In a peace deal engineered by Vihiga Council of Elders led by former Makadara legislator Fred Omido, the two resolved to work together for the common good of Vihiga residents.
Addressing the press after striking the deal at a Vihiga hotel last Wednesday, Ottichillo said that a good working relationship in the executive will go a long way in ensuring development in the region.
“It has been so clear that my deputy and I have in the recent past had misunderstandings which we felt was not beneficial to the people of Vihiga. Today, we have resolved those differences and agreed to work together for the sake of residents,” said Ottichillo.
Saisi echoed the same sentiments saying, “The differences we had was a normal thing which can occur in any relationship. When two people differ in opinion it does not mean they are enemies. As the County leadership we met today and ironed out the small issues which were standing between us. We have agreed to support one another and work together for the people of Vihiga.”
Meanwhile, Omido revealed that the peace deal also brought together county executive committee members and chief officers who were also believed to have had differences.
He said they agreed to work as a team to ensure efficient service delivery as they support the government on its development agenda.
However, the council of elders commended the good working relationship between the executive and the county assembly saying that it sets a good example for other government organs.
The elders urged residents to support the peace deal for the County to move forward. “It is time for all of us to collectively come on board and help propel this county forward. No individual is greater than this County,” said Omido.
