The Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga has warned medics working at Mukurweini sub county Hospital cautioned over laxity in discharging their duties.
Speaking on Sunday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Mukurweini stadium, Kahiga said he had received several complaints from the residents concerning medics working in the facility.
Led by Speaker of County Assembly, John Kaguchia, the locals complained to the Governor that patients seeking laboratory services among others were being referred to clinics outside the hospital while others were left unattended.
Kaguchia said this trend will not be tolerated now that the county government has invested heavily in health matters and promised to visit the facility together with the speaker and Health officials to familiarize with what is happening.
The Speaker said whoever will be found sleeping on his job will be dismissed, saying patients should be treated with love and care.
Kaguchia said medics are paid through taxpayers’ money, and turning way patients to other clinics cannot be accepted.
“Our patients should be treated well in the facility since there is enough staff,” said Kaguchia.
