Youth intending to wed have been challenged to save to fund their ceremonies instead of relying on the congregation for contributions.
Evangelist Charles Kariuki in his homily at Tumaini Seventh day Adventist Church in Komarock Estate of Nairobi county on Saturday said people who wished to start a family should be able to stand on their own with resources that they had saved prior to the wedding day.
The preacher said responsible people were not expected to raise funds from the members of the church as already, the congregation was burdened with development projects of the church.
He said most young people wanted to live lavishly yet they did not want to work hard and make their own money. “You should be economically stable through working hard and prayer,” he said.
In reference to Isaac, Abrahams’s son, Evangelist Kariuki said he married after he celebrated his 40th birthday and that it was the proper age for people to marry.
He wondered how young people as young as 22 years intended to get into marriage life when they hardly had worked and saved their own money to spend on such ceremonies.
