Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has called on the education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha to hasten the appointment of a substantive Vice Chancellor of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
Mudavadi lamented that it is now one year since the term of the then VC Prof Fredrick Otieno ended and there have been two acting office holders.
The interviews were conducted early last month and probably the Public Service Commission has presented the report to the CS for making the appointment as stipulated in the statutes.
The former Deputy Premier spoke during a requiem mass of Adelaide Khalwale the wife of the former Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale at the institution on Thursday.
He observed that an acting CEO is unable to make sweeping managerial and administrative decisions in an organization which are paramount for efficiency and effectiveness.
Mrs. Khalwale was until her death last week an office administrative assistant at the university.
Meanwhile, the soft-spoken politician has condemned the incident where a bulldozer demolished houses of over 200 households at Chesumei in Nandi County last night to pave way for the construction of housing units in fulfillment of one of the pillars of government namely housing. Several families were rendered homeless.
