Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has castigated Kericho County Senator Aaron Cheruiyot for allegedly making false remarks concerning Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi.
Speaking during the launch of new fire engine in Kisii town , Kisii Governor James Ongwae demanded that the Senator stops playing politics with the CS’s name in a bid to gain mileage.
He was reacting to claims that Dr. Matiang’i had a meeting with the Deputy president William Ruto where they urged Cheruiyot to impress on the Jubilee senators to drop a motion against the CS.
Cheruiyot had made the remarks during a recent burial ceremony for Billionaire businessman Stephen Mogeni at his home in North Mogirango in the county.
Echoing Ongwae’s remarks, County Assembly Speaker David Kombo said all Kenyans were equal and therefore required equal respect.
About the county fire engine, Ongwae said the county was committed to protecting business investments and other institutions in the area through proper disaster preparedness.
He said the County government was looking forward to buying another one for Gucha Sub County ahead of construction of a fire station in Kisii town, next month.
Acting County Commissioner William Murindatt said the national government was committed to working with the County Government to prevent disasters including school fires as witnessed in the year 2017.
Ongwae lauded the national government for continued cordial relationship with the county government and urged anyone requiring the services of the fire engine to call emergency number 0722760010.
