The Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria has urged fellow political leaders in the country to take the issue of youth talents seriously.
Speaking in Meru on Sunday during a homecoming ceremony of a local gospel artist, Makena wa Materi, Kuria said most politicians were only good at making pledges to young artists especially during campaigns but failing to fulfill them once elected.
He called on all politicians to be proactive in assisting youth harness their various talents, which he noted was not only good for the country’s economy but also helping to contain crime.
Kuria observed that failing to tap youth talents as promised is to blame for the rising cases of despondency among young people in the country.
“Drug addiction, suicides and engagement in crime among youth which is becoming rife in the country is partly as a result of failure by leaders to offer both moral and material support to talented youth,” said Kuria.
The MP called on the politicians to walk the talk and visit various artists in their backyards instead of just making discussions in parliament with nothing tangible to show on the ground.
