Uasin Gishu County Department of Education, flagged off another batch of 550 students sponsored under the County Education Revolving Fund set to join various colleges and university to pursue various courses.
Addressing the students before the flag off, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago challenged them to take their studies seriously saying this was the only way they can secure their future and that of their families.
Mandago further advised them to concentrate on their studies while in college and avoid being involved in affairs that would bring them problems at the expense of their education
Mandago said his government will continue empowering the youth by financing them to pursue technical and other high demand courses through the County Education Revolving Fund.
“My administration is very much aware of the needs of its youth and this is meant to make you resourceful people to suit the job market,” he said.
The county boss said the youth should focus on self-employment and job creation after completing their courses observing that technical skills were still in high demand across the country.
Mandago congratulated the first batch of 100 students funded under the scheme to join Kenya Technical Training College (KTTC) for their discipline and hard work saying 98 of them completed and passed their examination successfully.
Another 181 students will join Animal health and industry training institute, AHITI, 90 will join Egerton University while 270 will join Kenya Medical Training College, while 32 students have already begun their training at the Kenya Water Institute.
