Busia County Commissioner Jacob Narengo has warned local residents not to loiter nor cross the border on 24th and 25th night.
Speaking to KNA in his office on Friday, Narengo said that only designated census officers will be allowed to operate during the exercise.
‘Those who will be found loitering at night will be arrested and face the full force of the law,’ he said adding that security officers will be on high alert.
This comes a day after Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi ordered that all bars and recreation joints to be closed from 5.00 pm and ensure all citizens are home for enumeration.
Last evening, a section of Busia residents criticized Dr. Matiangi’s directive stating that they will cross over to the Ugandan side for a drinking spree instead of being enumerated.
“Matiangi’s order to close the bars will not affect us in any way, instead, we will go to the Ugandan side where the liquor is much cheaper”, they said.
The national exercise is expected to kick off from 6 pm across the country on Saturday.
