Joho offers Ramadhan donation to needy

In a significant goodwill gesture to the Muslim community in Mombasa during the holy month of Ramadhan the government has distributed an assortment of food stuffs to the needy at the coastal town.

Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Joho who presided over the distribution exercise assured that the government offered the food stuff to the needy members of society across all six sub-counties to alleviate their suffering during this period.

He told residents during a distribution event in Shimanzi, of the government’s commitment to ensure that no one goes hungry during this period when Muslims observe the dawn to dusk fast

“We have ensured equity in the distribution of the food across all six sub-counties. The government has done this to serve the deserving cases in Mombasa and Kenya.

The food packages contain staples such as 600 bags of rice and 520 bags of beans.

The distribution process will be conducted in collaboration with local community leaders and administrative officials, ensuring that the aid reaches the intended recipients.

Joho announced that the food distribution will be coordinated through the DCC’s offices in all six subcounties, ensuring easy access for those in need.

This initiative is a reflection of the government’s focus on social welfare and the importance of corporations.

Meanwhile, the senior leadership from Amsons Group of Industries and Bamburi Cement PLC paid a courtesy call to the Mombasa County Governor to officially hand over their food rations donation, which is aimed at supporting underprivileged families during the holy month of Ramadhan.

During the handover ceremony, Mohammed Osman, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Tourism, Culture, and Trade, speaking on behalf of the Governor, emphasized the county’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment for companies like Bamburi Cement to thrive.

Osman further highlighted that the 200 bags of assorted food items would be distributed to children’s homes across the county, ensuring that those in need can also experience the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan.

He extended a warm invitation to other businesses to join in the spirit of giving during this special time.

Bamburi Cement PLC Commercial Director and Amsons Group Sales and Marketing Manager, Tawaqal Rajab Sumba, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mombasa County Government for accepting their contribution.

“We sincerely appreciate the leadership of Mombasa County for welcoming this humble donation, which is intended to benefit those in need during this sacred month of Ramadhan,” he said.

He also extended his appreciation to Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Mombasa Chapter Chairman, Mr. Abud Jamal, for his unwavering support since the inception of the Iftar Drive in Mombasa.

“This initiative is not only limited to Mombasa but has also been extended to other counties, including Nairobi, Machakos, and beyond. Our goal is to reach as many families as possible and make a meaningful impact during this blessed season,” Sumba added.

He further reaffirmed Bamburi Cement’s commitment to manufacturing high-quality products for the benefit of its customers.

Additionally, he highlighted the company’s long-standing collaboration with the Mombasa County Government in various sectors, including health, education, economic empowerment, and infrastructure development. “We have worked together on different initiatives before, and we will continue to strengthen this partnership for the betterment of the community,” Sumba stated.

The Iftar Drive is a joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort by Amsons Group and Bamburi Cement, reaffirming their commitment to giving back to the community and supporting those in need.
