Green Wells Energy unveils Liquefied Petroleum Gas Plant in Kisumu

Green Wells Energy Limited has launched a state-of-the-art Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) refilling plant in Kisumu County to enhance access to clean energy in the area.

The plant, located along Sabuni Road in Kisumu city, has been designed with modern technology to be a safer and cost-effective alternative to conventional energy sources in a bid to benefit households, businesses, and industries in Kisumu and its environs.

Speaking during the launch, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o said the plant was expected to significantly improve access to energy in the region while contributing to reduction in environmental degradation.

With Green Wells Energy’s growing presence in Kisumu including the Awasi quarry project and two petrol stations in the city, the investment, the Governor said, was a testament of the company’s commitment to scale up industrialization in the city.

“Investment in this ultra-modern LPG refilling plant aligns with our shared vision for a healthier, more sustainable environment. LPG is a cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective fuel source,” he said.

The facility, he added, will bring significant benefits to households, businesses, and industries across Kisumu County and beyond, helping to improve daily livelihoods.

“I want to commend Green Wells Energies for this bold step. Not only have they chosen to invest here in Kisumu creating job opportunities and strengthening our local economy, but they have also shown an enduring commitment to quality, affordability, and environmental responsibility,” he said.

The county government of Kisumu, he said, will continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and attract more investments.

“I wish to assure local and international business people that Kisumu is ripe for investments. We are also ready to protect your investments through friendly policies,” he said.

The reorganization of the city, he said, has given impetus to the drive to market Kisumu as a business hub, calling on local and international investors to take advantage and set base in the area

Green Wells Energy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Stephen Okello, said the opening of the facility marked a turning point for the energy sector in Kisumu.
