Nandi County leverages technology for better equipment management

Road construction machinery owned by the County Government of Nandi will be mounted with surveillance devices to ensure the intended purpose of the machines is achieved.

The new Chief Executive Committee Member for Roads and Infrastructure Engineer Robert Limo revealed that they were equipping the road construction and maintenance machinery with technology that can monitor every movement and activity as a strategy for timely service delivery and responsible use.

Engineer Limo said they will be collecting as much data as possible to make sure that the machines working for Nandi roads are in the right shape and place all the time.

He said extra supervision will be rolled out, including the use of the residents to report issues arising from the use of government equipment.

Engineer Limo was speaking to the press after attending the Nandi County Government 2023-2027 strategic plans stakeholders’ engagement and validation forum in Kapsabet town.

“We’ll be trying to collect data as much as possible to make sure that our machines are working; we are equipping them with technology, which will update us each and every moment of movement. Further extra supervision will be heightened to make sure that everything is working well, and also residents should update us about these machines,” he said.

He promised to use his position to meet with the locals and work on roads which have been marked for facelifting and construction across the county.

Addressing the same event, Nandi County Government Chief Executive Committee Member in Charge of Agriculture and Cooperative Development Kiplimo Lagat said strategic plans discussed have been captured in the County Integrated Development Plan, which reflects the National Government Medium Term Development Plans.

“The plans we are developing reflect what we have in CIDP, what the National Government has captured in the Medium-Term Development Plan, and that also will reflect what the President is aspiring for Kenyans through his manifesto, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” Dr. Lagat said.
