Muhoroni students are a happy lot after Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o presided over a funds drive to build classrooms.
This comes after Ministry of health officials condemned the buildings which were a threat to their lives.
Nyong’o said this will help the students learn in a conducive environment and improve the academic performance.
The governor joined in the Harambee after attending former Kisumu County senatorial aspirant Ochola Ogoda’s brother burial ceremony in Miwani.
He at the same time, condemned the recent closure of Kibos sugar factory following a court ruling early last week.
The governor alleged that the ruling was influenced by Sugar barons whose aim was to have a monopoly of sugar supply in the region.
Kibos sugar factory previously known for spillage of effluence into river Kibos now has a proper waste management and disposal system in place at their plant to curb water pollution, he said.
The factory remains the only private sugar milling factory in Kisumu County where local farmers take their canes.
The Governor said the County was currently conducting ward consultative meetings for delineation of village councils.
The Governor urged the residents to take the advantage of the meetings and be part of decision making for the development they want in their villages.
