The County Government of Uasin Gishu hosted a free medical camp at Huruma grounds where over 1,200 individuals benefitted from comprehensive health screening and treatment.
Speaking during the exercise, County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Dr. Abraham Serem, highlighted the importance of such initiatives.
The camp provided an array of services, emphasising the need for regular check-ups and preventative care.
With the collaborative efforts of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and medics, Dr. Serem assured residents that essential medication will be consistently available in local health facilities.
“We have taken significant steps to secure a reliable supply of drugs. For those facing personal disturbing issues, they are also encouraged to utilise our facilities for guidance and counselling sessions because we are here for the community,” he said.
He further urged the public to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) programme, which offers extensive coverage, including cancer treatments and emergency services.
“SHA covers every condition or disease without demanding a single shilling for treatment in dispensaries and health centers. It’s vital that everyone registers to access these essential services,” emphasised Dr. Serem.
On his part, Promotive and Preventive Health Chief Officer Dr. Paul Wangwe indicated that the medical camp is just one of many steps they are taking to promote the health and well-being of the people, and as a department, they plan to carry out the exercise across the county.
