FKF decline Mombasa All Stars’ request to postpone matches

Mombasa-based football club, Mombasa All Stars, competing in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division 2 Northern branch league, have been hit with a huge setback after their request to postpone five of their upcoming league matches was denied by FKF.

In a letter addressed to FKF, the club explained their request was due to circumstances involving their club’s owner and sponsor, Shufat Mohamed, who has to travel to India to seek urgent medical treatment.

The club emphasised that without Mohamed’s direct involvement during this time, it will be challenging to ensure the team prepares logistically and financially for the matches.

However, FKF’s Division Two Northern Zone League Committee rejected the request, stating, “After careful consideration and guided by FKF rules, the committee regrets to inform Mombasa All Stars that their request has been declined.”

The club has been facing financial struggles since the start of the season due to Mohamed’s health woes, preventing him from securing funding for the team.

The problem forced him to announce that he would hand over ownership to any individual or group who was willing to run the club without charging them anything.

Despite these difficulties, the club is hopeful of securing a sponsor as soon as possible so as to look after their financial challenges.
