Jubilee Leaders Told to Work in Unity

Deputy President Dr. William Ruto has decried factions within the ruling Jubilee Party and urged all leaders to work in unison towards achievement of national development.

Speaking at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Murang’a County, the DP said the leaders should shun divisive politics and work towards implementation of the party’s manifesto.

He insisted that Jubilee is headed by President Kenyatta and thus all other leaders should remain united and work for the people who elected them.

“Our party is one, the overall leader is one, our manifesto is one, so why the divisions. We need to work in unity for the sake of our people,” said the deputy President who was chief guest in the church’s fundraiser.

Development, he added, will only be attained by one united team which adheres to the party’s manifesto.

In recent past, some jubilee leaders have aligned themselves to two factions namely Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga.

Ruto said his numerous visits to various parts of the country were to ensure development projects are implemented.

“If something happens and people fail to get the needed development, I will be the first person to be questioned by the Head of State,” he added.

The Deputy President further vowed to ensure that no single project initiated by the government will stall promising to mobilise resources and manpower needed to fully implement the Big4 agenda.

He divulged that the government was working on reforms to increase Agricultural production for export saying the programme was aimed to increase earnings for Kenyan farmers.

He disclosed that Sh3 billion had been set aside to revive the coffee sector whose produce President Kenyatta early this year sourced for international market like in  china,” he observed.

Other leaders accompanying the deputy president vowed to support him despite criticisms from fellow political leaders.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro said their support to the deputy president will continue until he clinches the president’s position.

“We know how the deputy president has walked with us since 2013 and he has been very instrumental in championing for development in this region and that is why we will continue supporting him,” said Rigathi.

Nyoro faulted those against fellow leader’s spirit to contribute in churches saying he will not support any bill barring elected leaders to fundraise in churches.

His sentiments were echoed by Maragua MP Mary Waithera and his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome.

Other leaders present were Kirinyaga Woman representative Wangui Ngirici and her Nyandarua counterpart Grace Gitau, Mukurweini MP Antony Kihai and Tetu MP Gichuki Mwangi.
