Migori County has welcomed the partnership with, a technology-enhanced platform also known as EIDU that will provide digital to half of the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres.
Speaking during the launch of the programme that will benefit the EDCE learners in 348 learning centres in 2025, Migori County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Sports and Youths Rahab Robi said that the partnership will benefit younger learners.
Robi acknowledged that digital learning skills will equip ECD learners with digital knowledge and empower them to shape their young brains.
EIDU is a technology-enhanced platform which integrates various high-impact interventions into a single and coherent system that is easy to use by teachers, students, and supporting staff.
EIDU has been aiming to empower the county government’s education system to dramatically improve learning outcomes through public education systems starting with foundational literacy and numeracy in ECD levels.
Robi however disclosed that the partnership will target 50 percent of the ECD centres across the county before rolling out the programme gradually to ensure that all our learners access digital learning.
She noted that quality learning is the way to go in the 21st Century adding that the county will be recruiting more ECD teachers to ensure learners have enough trainers for their tender age education.
EIDU official Lilian Avugwi said that the 41 million programme will support 50 percent of all the ECD centres in the county to give digital literacy to younger minds in Pre Primary Education (PP1 and PP2).
“We will be supporting the Migori programme for one year with a possible extension to ensure that we give a digital platform and literacy to our younger learners”, noted Avugwi.
Avugwi said that the programme will entail training of ECD teachers, tracking the learner’s assessment lessons and the extension staff that will be working with county department of education to ensure programme implementation is successful.
She disclosed that the programme currently running in 23 counties with Mombasa being a pioneer county with 100 percent digital learning enrollment.
Migori County Director of Education Edward Okello said that the launch of the ICT programme will help the implementers to follow up, and know the progress of the learners in various centres.
Early this year ECDE learners also received 6,000 chairs and 300 tables from LAPFUND to create an enabling and conducive environment for the young learners.
