North Eastern Regional Commissioner Visits Mandera County to Address Security Challenges  

North Eastern Regional Commissioner John Otieno visited Mandera County to evaluate the region’s security situation and address urgent concerns affecting local residents.

During his visit, the Regional Commissioner Otieno engaged with local leaders, elders and chiefs, emphasizing the need for collaboration to tackle challenges such as insecurity, climate change, and ongoing development projects.

In a meeting with the County’s chiefs, Otieno mentioned their critical role in ensuring the safety and stability of communities.

The speaker emphasized the need for improved coordination between chiefs and security agencies to tackle global threats, criminal activities, and increasing insecurity cases.

Thus “Ensuring the safety of residents requires collaboration at all levels. Chiefs and security organs must work together to maintain peace and order,” said Otieno.

However, the Regional Commissioner issued a stern warning to chiefs found engaging in illegal activities, particularly those involved in registering foreigners and issuing documents that could compromise security.

Hence, “Any chief found engaging in such practices will face immediate arrest and interdiction,” he cautioned.

In separate discussions with community leaders and elders, Otieno encouraged active participation in enhancing security and fostering cooperation with law enforcement agencies to safeguard Mandera County.

Meanwhile, Otieno who was accompanied by a high-level regional security team, underlining the government’s commitment to addressing security challenges in Mandera through collaborative and community-driven approaches.

The visit reinforced the government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of residents and maintaining stability in the region.
