Christian clerics from Narok West, under the umbrella of the Pastors Fellowship, gathered along the Narok-Mulot highway to pray for its cleansing, following a series of fatal accidents in recent months.
Led by Bishop Jackson Kosgei, who is also a nominated Member of Parliament, the group urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly as the festive season approaches.
Bishop Kosgei noted that the holiday season typically brings increased travel across the country, resulting in a rise in road accidents often caused by reckless driving.
“The safety of every road user is a shared responsibility,” he emphasized.
Reverend Philip Tangus, chairman of the Pastors Fellowship in Narok West, explained that the prayer session was aimed at spiritually cleansing the road.
The group temporarily halted traffic as they poured salt and offered prayers for the road’s safety.
Rev. Tangus also urged motorists to be responsible, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and prioritize safety.
He expressed growing concern over the increasing number of road accidents, which led to the decision to dedicate this day to cleansing the highway.
Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech echoed the sentiments of Bishop Kosgei, urging travellers and motorists to be extra vigilant during the festive season when road traffic is expected to surge.
