Govt to recruit skilled youth nationwide for overseas jobs

Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (TVET) Principal Secretary, Dr. Esther Muoria, has said that the government is recruiting skilled youths from each of the 47 counties for overseas jobs.

The PS said they are working together with CS Labour and Social Protection, Dr. Alfred Mutua, on the nationwide recruitment for Qatar jobs that will be carried out in selected TVET institutions and at County Headquarters.

She disclosed that the start date will be on the 20th of November 2024 in Machakos, followed by Makueni on the 21st, Kitui on the 22nd, and thereafter followed by Nakuru and Baringo, respectively, as they target the other counties.

Dr. Muoria was speaking at the Masinga Technical and Vocational College in Masinga Subcounty of Machakos, where she implored all skilled youths to avail themselves at the selected TVET institutions for the recruitment.

“I am urging the young people to avail themselves for the recruitment and be ready to demonstrate their skills,” Dr. Muoria said.

The PS emphasized the importance of the acquisition of skills by the youth, which will spur industrialisation and boost the country’s economy.

“Industrialists across the world want to invest, and since they already have the money, machinery, and market, they only require skilled people,” added Dr. Muoria.

She called upon the youth to join the various TVET institutions in the country since they are well equipped and will offer the required skills for a competitive job market.

This development comes hours after CS Labour Dr. Mutua announced the nationwide recruitment during a media briefing in Kisumu, where he urged the youth to be well prepared by bringing their relevant documents, such as National IDs.

Mutua noted that Certificates of Good Conduct will be issued and immigration officials will be available to assist in facilitating passport applications on site.
