The County Government of Busia through the Department of Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alupe University with a view to strengthen the practical aspects of training and allow students to gain experience from County health facilities.
While presiding over the signing ceremony at Alupe University on Wednesday, Busia Deputy Governor Arthur Odera expressed the county’s commitment to supporting students pursuing courses in medicine.
“Our commitment is undoubted and this partnership will ensure that healthcare students get hands-on experience from our facilities, meeting required standards while building vital relationships with our medical fraternity,” he said.
Alupe University Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Barasa welcomed the partnership adding that the initiative marked a significant milestone for the institution.
“This MOU is crucial for our program. We have come a long way and we are looking forward to leveraging this relationship to enhance our research capabilities and serve the community of Busia and beyond,” he said.
The MOU is expected to benefit both institutions while improving healthcare education and service delivery in the region.
