Mama Agnes Ochilo Foundation in collaboration with the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPFUND), has launched the distribution of 6,000 chairs and 300 tables to Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) schools in Migori.
Speaking during the handover of the ECDE learning materials in Migori town, Dr. Agnes Ochilo said that the generous initiative by the LAPFUND to the county government of Migori reflects a collective commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment for the county young learner.
Agnes, who is also the spouse to Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, said that her foundation will continue to engage with partners like LAPFUND in the education sector to ensure that learners have the necessary resources to thrive academically.
“My foundation through support from various partners like LAPFUND intends to create a supportive environment for young learners,” noted Agnes.
She expounded that it was important to nurture and motivate school-going children, especially those in lower primary classes, to thrive in education in readiness for their future contribution to the country’s economy.
George Ochieng’, the LAPFUND Regional Director for Nyanza and Western Region, emphasised that the availability of resources and partnerships with Migori County will enhance ECDE infrastructure to support a brighter future generation.
The County Executive Committee Member for Education (CECM) Rahab Robi said that currently, the Department of Education is working on a budget to support a feeding program and construct ECDE latrines to ensure they are separate from those used by older students.
