Lusaka helps raise funds for Chesamis high school

Chesamis boy’s high School in Kimilili area of Bungoma County has begun the construction of a new dining hall at a cost of Sh10 million to cater for 1700 students.

During the schools’ annual general meeting held on Friday, the local National Government Constituencies Development Fund Kitty (NG-CDF) donated a cheque of Sh8.5 million to the school.

The chief guest at the function, Senate Speaker, Kenneth Lusaka gave a personal donation of Sh400, 000.

The speaker asked students to concentrate more on their studies if they hoped to be respectable and resourceful members of the society in future.

Lusaka, an alumnus of the school asked parents to keep tabs on their sons and daughters while in school by working closely with teachers as well as providing them with the basic necessities and paying fees on time.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said through NG-CDF he would ensure that schools spread across the constituency had spacious and well equipped science laboratories to aid students to better learn their practicals in science subjects.

The MP warned school principals against burdening parents with extra levies and sending students home for fees and instead asked schools facing challenges of any kind to liaise with his NG-CDF committee to sort out school fees challenges and thus allow students to learn full time.

Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa and his Webuye West counterpart Dan Wanyama decried an increase in the dropout rate among girls due to early pregnancies.
