Residents of Kigumo village in Laikipia County, Friday spent their day rehabilitating a section of a road in the area, while accusing their leaders of neglecting them.
Armed with jembes and spades, the residents braved the chilly morning to rehabilitate a 50 meter stretch that they said was their worst nightmare that the leaders overlooked.
“We have been forced to use donkey carts as a means of transport in this area. It has been neglected since time immemorial. Our leaders only come here when they need votes and then leave, never to be seen again,” said Mr. Julius Marete, a resident while pointing at the road which connects the border village to Nyahururu-Nakuru highway.
They are urged the Laikipia County government to refurbish the road and also provide access to water and electricity in the area.
