Youth ask government to actualize Kazi Mtaani programme

Kakamega youth in Jua Kali sector are requesting the government to implement the Kazi Mtaani program to enable them to earn a living to support their families.

Speaking to KNA in Kakamega Town today, the youths said they are ready for the government’s labor export but they are facing bottlenecks in getting passports due to application fees they can’t afford.

Bonface Khainga says he has missed an opportunity to go and work in Ethiopia for failure to obtain a passport due to lack of application fees. Hence, he urged President William Ruto to consider the plight of the low-income earners working in the Jua Kali sector who are interested in the export labor market.

On the other hand, Jacob Ng’ang’a, a youth, is also facing financial struggles and is awaiting government support through various youth-focused initiatives. “We voted for the president and we are hopeful that he will support creation of more job opportunities for us,” he added.

He also urged the county government to offer the youth in the Jua Kali sector tenders to repair and fix vehicles among other tenders that can generate income for them.
