KASNEB launches new programs to enhance professional development

Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board(KASNEB) in collaboration with the Kenya Bureau of Standards(KEBS) has officially launched Diploma in Quality Management (DQM) and Certified Public Finance Manager (CPFM) Courses, aimed at equipping professionals with the skills needed to enhance professional development and quality management in their respective fields.

The launch of the two courses addresses a significant gap in quality management systems within the country and across Africa.

Speaking on behalf of the National Treasury Principal Secretary, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, at the KASNEB International Conference for Professionals themed “Shaping the Future of International Professionals in the Blue Space” at the Pride Inn Resort, Shanzu, Mombasa, KASNEB Board Member, CPA Jane Njogu Macharia applauded KASNEB and KEBS for the initiative to unleash potential with continuous professional development.

She reiterated that the State Department is fully committed to fostering an environment that supports learning and growth.

“We recognize the importance of equipping our professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of the world, hence through continuous partnerships, we can ensure that our professionals remain at the forefront of their fields ready to tackle the challenges and seize opportunities that lie ahead,” Macharia said.

“I am pleased to note that this International Conference has provided a forum for high-level engagements and updates on emerging and pertinent areas of interest to the professionals,” Macharia added.

The Board member said that the conference comes at a pivotal time, when the country is navigating complex economic challenges and opportunities, citing that the insights and solutions generated in this forum will contribute to each participant’s professional growth and drive towards a collective mission of economic prosperity.

Furthermore, she said that the “Blue Space” represents the vast expanse of opportunities in the International Arena, a concept that poses a challenge to look beyond the conventional and to seek out new possibilities, where Kenyan professionals can make a significant impact on the global stage.

On his part, Nicholas Letting, Chief Executive Officer, Kasneb, noted that the two courses are market-driven and meant for upcoming professionals in the management sector, especially those working in the National Treasury, who may require to improve their qualifications, knowledge, and skills in Public finance management.

On her part, KEBS Managing Director, Esther Ngari, reiterated that the agency has been developing the Diploma in Quality Management (DQM) Course since 2018, to cover the gap in the Country’s extensive programs and training on quality management.

“If you take a keen look, you will realize that locally we do not have programs that take over one week to educate on the quality management system, hence in our effort to entrench the culture of quality management in the country, we together with KASNEB saw a need to start this program,” she said.

“The Curriculum we unveil today is meticulously structured into three comprehensive units of competency; Basic, Common, and Core Units. This framework ensures a comprehensive approach to quality management education required in today’s competitive environment,” Ngari said.

In addition, she highlighted that the DQM program will offer various training in TVETs, since it is a Diploma course and that the agency already has an approved Curriculum that will be used to facilitate the course.

However, as KASNEB together with KEBS, we call on quality professionals locally and internationally to register for the programs to advance their careers, as these two courses will only be available in KASNEB-approved higher learning institutions.

Meanwhile, with DQM being the first Quality Management course in Africa, the students are expected to sit for their first Examinations in December 2024, upon registration, considering that the course will have Examinations three times annually in the months of April, August, and December.

Registration for the courses was declared open immediately after the official launch.
