Bomet County football champions, Kaplong Boys High School, solidified their chances of retaining their title with a decisive 2-0 victory over their long-time rivals, Tenwek High School, during the county secondary school term two games held at Bomet IAAF Stadium on Thursday.

The champions showcased their prowess with goals from Dennis Mogaka and Felix Kiprono, ensuring Tenwek High’s exit from the competition.

Kaplong Boys had previously secured a 1-0 win against St Michael Secondary School, with Brian Kiplangat scoring the match’s lone goal.

Tenwek High School, who had already suffered a 1-0 defeat to St Michael in their first preliminary match, was eliminated from the tournament after losing both games.

Kaplong Boys will advance to face Boito Boys Secondary School in the first semi-final, while Kapsimbiri Secondary School will take on St Michael in the other semi-final match.

These matches were scheduled for yesterday evening as of the reporting time.

In the girls’ competition, newcomers Ndaraweta Secondary School made a formidable entrance by winning their first two games by significant margins.

In their first match at St Michael Secondary School playground, they triumphed over Kamaget Secondary School with a 4-1 victory.

Ruth Chepkemboi led the charge with two goals, while Mercy Chelangat, Gloria Chebet, and Ivine Cherotich each contributed a goal.

In girls’ volleyball, the fifteen-time champions Kaboson Girls Secondary School maintained their winning streak by defeating their arch-rivals Cheptalal Girls Secondary School 3-0, enhancing their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Koibeyon Secondary School also performed impressively, beating Chesilyot 3-0 and then Ndaraweta with the same score.

On the boys’ side, defending champions Kiptulwa Secondary School faced a disappointing start, losing their opening games and exiting the competition at the preliminary stage.

They were defeated by Koiwa High School 3-0 in the first game, followed by another 3-0 loss to Tenwek.
