Youth in Nyanza have lauded President Ruto for declining to sign the Finance Bill 2024 and urged him to actively engage with the youth on critical decisions touching on their lives.
The youth, led by the Chairman of the Nyanza Youths Professionals, Donald Agwenge, urged President Ruto to embrace engaging the youths in critical affairs pertaining to the governance of the country.
Agwenge urged the President to institute mechanisms for constantly engaging with the youth on critical challenges facing the country.
He called on the President to push for the enactment of legislation to make education free from the primary level to the university level in Kenya, saying this will give more youths the opportunity to attain the requisite quality education.
“We thank the President for seeing it appropriate to engage the youths to discuss the way forward for our country and for declining to sign the 2024 Finance Bill pending deliberations,” pointed Agwenge.
The youths urged the President to ensure the upcoming Finance Bill sets aside the bulk of funding for development projects as opposed to monies for sustaining offices and for proper public participation to sensitise the citizenry on whatever plans the government has, including engaging the citizenry in public participation through all available avenues, including the social media platforms where the majority of the youths are.
