A man went berserk and attacked his neighbour killing him on the spot at Menet village in Soin-Sigowet Sub County, Kericho County.
The 25-year-old, Dennis Korir who was armed with a sharp panga went to Samuel Ngetich’s home and picked a quarrel with him before hacking him to death. He also attacked his two other neighbours inflicting them with panga cuts.
Stanley Kaptich who witnessed the ordeal said he was at home with the deceased when the armed attacker arrived.
Kaptich said their attempts to stop Korir from attacking his neighbours proved futile as he was wielding a very sharp machette.
“We tried to arrest him, but he also cut 40 year old Nehemiah Kaptich on the head and Josephine Langat on her hand,” Kaptich told the police.
The Kericho County Police Commander, James Mugera confirmed the incident, saying the suspect surrendered himself last night to Sosiot police station.
The two injured victims were taken to Sigowet Sub-County Hospital, where they were given first aid before being referred to Kericho County Hospital. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was moved to Sigowet Sub County Hospital mortuary.
The incident occurred barely 24 hours after a tea picker at Cheborge village in Bureti killed her employer over a Sh.150 debt.
The tea picker, a 22 year old woman, was later arrested from her hideout in Cheborge trading centre.
The woman stabbed Joseph Sang, 62, over her wages that had not been paid for the day’s work. The body was moved to the AIC Mission hospital mortuary.
