Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni has assured Kenyans that the government is on course to fully implement the Social Health Insurance programme to improve health services in the country.
Muthoni has said that there is no cause for alarm, and Kenyans are free to use their National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card to access health services in all health facilities.
She says that no one will be turned away from any hospital, ensuring that the NHIF card is active for all Kenyans.
Speaking in Gichugu Mburi ACK Church, Muthoni said the government is committed to ensuring the new health scheme is fully implemented to ensure Kenyans get efficient health care.
Muthoni noted that once fully implemented, the social health insurance scheme will see Kenyans pay Sh300 per month, unlike before, when they were paying Sh500 in the NHIF programme.
She called on Kenyans to stop politicising the programme and rather be patient as the government takes the necessary measures to roll out the insurance cover to all Kenyans.
