Governor Wamatangi issues bursary cheques

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has issued bursary cheques to needy students from Ndeiya Ward, Limuru Sub-County.

The governor also announced significant development projects that his administration is working on to improve the lives of the residents.

“We are focused on enhancing local infrastructure and services, aiming to significantly improve the community’s quality of life and development prospects,” he said, noting that his administration is dedicated and committed to enhancing development in the infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in Ndeiya Ward.

On enhancing healthcare services, the governor revealed plans to upgrade the Ndeiya Health Centre to a Level 4 hospital.

“The upgraded facility will feature an 80-bed maternity wing, a critical enhancement expected to significantly improve maternal and child health in the region. The tendering process for this renovation is nearing completion,” said Wamatangi.

Education infrastructure, he explained, is also receiving attention, with the recently completed Thigio model Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centre, while construction at Makutano Primary School is set to commence soon, following the awarding of the tender.

During the meeting, Wamatangi further said that rehabilitation work on access roads in the ward will resume after the rainy season subsides.

He added that the county’s road construction units are scheduled to be deployed in the area for three weeks to ensure that the roads are restored and maintained.

Furthermore, the Governor announced the construction of a new market at Thigio Trading Centre, a project valued at Sh 50 million which is expected to boost local commerce and provide a significant economic uplift to the community.

The meeting was attended by several Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), including the Chief Whip and Ndeiya Ward Representative Nelson Munga.
