The government will continue funding Vocational and Technical Training facilities in the country to achieve the country’s flagship projects under the big four agenda.
Vocational and Technical Training PS Dr. Kevit Desai said the project targets students from all walks of life and was expected to develop a cluster of TVET institutions which will develop all types of talents which have not been exploited throughout the country.
Speaking after inspection the ongoing construction of the Sh 40 million Moyale Technical Training Institute, Dr. Desai said the government will upgrade technical training institutions countrywide, with a view to meeting the current industrial needs and also create job opportunities especially for the youth.
The PS said the government will train the learners to improvise the technologies they learned from the institutions for self-empowerment and advised stakeholders to bring all key players on board so they can make the institutions a success.
“More than 190, 000 students have enrolled in Vocational and Technical Education institutions across the country after the government introduced capitation for students,” Desai said.
Meanwhile, the PS disclosed that the government has embarked on recruiting more than 2, 000 trainers to be deployed at the institutions. The trainers will be equipped with tools and skills on competency based education to ensure those they will train will have relevant skills at graduation for nation building.
Desai was accompanied by area Assistant County Commissioner Ayub Warui who appealed to all the stakeholders in the Sub-County to own construction of the Moyale Technical Training Institute.
