Kisumu County government has in a bid to beef up security and spur business activities installed flood lights in Kowiyo market in upper Kadongo in Kisumu West ward.
The programmes officer in the area Member of the County Assembly’s (MCA) office’, Mr Kennedy Juma said the floodlights have been greatly welcomed by the local community as they will help spur business in the local market and even allow for more business hours for the local business community to late in the night who have hitherto been closing down their shops early in the day due to security concerns.
“We want to thank the entire Wawithi administration but implore the locals to give ample time to our elected leaders to deliver “noted Juma. Meanwhile, Local residents hailed the MCA Ken Ouko for installing the lights that they noted will not only boost security in the area but also trigger economic activities in the area.
Elijah Kajwang a stakeholder of upper Kadongo thanked the current leadership led by the MCA for handing over the flood lights that will greatly improve the dwindling security in the area and greatly improve security to enable residents engage in trade in the market to the late hours of the evening.
The residents further said the floodlights will greatly help spur business in the community including bedding up security in the area. Whereas, the area ward manager Mr Agripinas Omanga noted that the floods lights were among the needs cited by the residents during the public participation exercise.
He disclosed that various development projects that have been lined up by the MCA for the ward and asked for ample time to enable him deliver on his development agenda.
“We have lots of projects lined up for Kisumu West constituency including the ECDE projects in Kapuonja South and North together with the market at Manewa as well as the vanda vocational training center including establishing modern toilets in our markets,” noted Omenya.
