Drama as police corporal beats up his boss senseless in full glare of the public

Members of the public were on Wednesday treated to a rare drama when a police corporal gave his boss a thorough beating for allegedly hurling abusive words at him.

The  incident, which occurred at Ugunja Police Station in Siaya County, left members of the public, who had gone to seek services at the station and passersby tongue tied as the two officers, in full service uniform went for each others’ jugular.

According to sources, the police corporal pounced on his senior, a senior sergeant who was seated under a tree at the station, landing heavy kicks and blows on his rival who allegedly accused the corporal of indiscipline and perpetual sabotage of his orders.

“The  sergeant  was  sitting under a tree, his usual joint, when the corporal passed by and he started abusing him, calling him inept,” said a  witness who added that initially, the corporal ignored his senior.

However, added the witness who had gone to the station to seek services, when the senior persisted with the accusation whenever the corporal  passed by, the junior answered back and tried to defend himself.

This  seemed to irk the boss and led to a verbal exchange from both sides before the junior swiftly and unexpectedly pounced sending the  sergeant  sprawling on the ground, as bewildered members of the public and other police officers scampered.

It  took  the intervention of senior police officers  who rushed from their offices for the corporal to stop beating up the subdued sergeant, as members of the public were immediately ordered out of the police station precincts.

The  Siaya  County Police Commander (CPC), Francis  Kooli  confirmed the incident, saying that there was a disagreement between the two. Kooli  said  that  disciplinary measures have been instituted and a team appointed to handle the matter.

“They  quarreled  in  public  and  the  Sub County Police Commander has instituted a disciplinary board to look into the matter. Action will be  taken  against  any body found culpable,” said the CPC.
