Bureti cops pursue 16-year-old defiler

Police in Bureti sub-county of Kericho have launched a manhunt for a suspected a student who is said to have defiled his three-year-old cousin while at home after being sent away to get school fees.
Confirming the incident, Belgut sub-county police commander Ms Felician Tengeye said the suspect, a Form-one student at Kapsogut high school is said to have been sent away to get school fees three days ago when he committed the act.
She added that the culprit is reported to have been left to watch over the girl and her sister aged seven years as their mother went to attend to some family errands in the town at around 5pm and upon her return, her daughter reported the incident.
“When the mother of the two came back home two hours later she did not notice anything until at around 9pm when her daughter complained of pain when passing urine and upon interrogation she revealed that the suspect had defiled her in his house,” added the sub-county police chief.
Tengeye said the culprit is still at large since the incident occurred but they were following crucial leads that will lead to his arrest.
“Necessary investigations have been carried out and the suspect who has gone into hiding after “smelling a rat” is being sought to be arrested and charged.” said Tengeye.
