The County Government has migrated to e-revenue collection mechanism in a bid to boost efficiency.
The Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya said the manual system inherited from the defunct local authorities had loopholes that were exploited by unscrupulous revenue officers.
He spoke on Wednesday during the launch at Bukhungu stadium where he said the county had the potential of raising Sh. 1 billion annually but they were realizing less than half of it due to leakages.
Oparanya disclosed that after the adoption of the cashless system three years ago the collection has been improving in revenue collection and last financial year they realized Sh. 800 million.
The County head observed that they also expect to maintain an upward trend for this year.
