Businesses in Maralal town came to a standstill after more than 2, 000 pupils of Maralal Primary School held a demonstration over the transfer of their head teacher to another school.
The Head teacher, Musa Abdule told KNA he had been transferred to St. Paul’s Primary School five kilometres away from his present station but would rather remain in his present school where he has worked for seven years.
However, the TSC Director, Suleman Adipo said that the transfer of Abdule was final and he was expected to handover to the incoming teacher from Baragoi Primary School in Samburu North.
Pupils stayed out of school for six hours hoping to convince the TSC to revoke the transfer of their teacher. But Adipo said the transfer order was made in Nairobi and he could not vary it.
