Murang’a Assembly approves new members of the local Municipal Board

Murang’a County Assembly has approved the appointment of five new members to the local Municipal Board.

The Assembly adopted a Report that was tabled before the House by Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Township Ward, Charles Machigo, on February 21, approving the appointment of Lameck Muiruri Ngigi, Kenneth Gitau Kamau, Margaret Kariuki, Ruth Waithera Muiruri, and Peter Kimani Gikonyo, to the County Municipal Board.

Showing a firm belief in the capacity of the Board Members to be of service to the Murang’a Municipality, Kiru Ward MCA, Morris Thuku, supported the adoption of the Report, saying that the Board Members will provide excellent service to Murang’a municipalities, given their proved-successful work records in their different career fields and he also commended the Committee for observing the Two-Third Gender Rule.

“I want to commend the Committee for adhering to the gender rule and for appointing members coming from different professions,” Thuku said.

The MCA noted the people listed in the Report have all the capacity, ability and integrity to serve Murang’a County and will be making a difference in the tasks accorded to them.

He, however, observed that the Committee had failed to involve the youth, as part of the team.

“All the listed members are above 45 years of age and I want to urge Committees, to consider the youth during such appointments in future,” he stated.

Nominated MCA, Gladys Wambui, also supported the adoption of the Report and observed that the Board Members are competent and would make the Murang’a Municipality a revenue giant, as per its potential.
