Garissa County to roll-out County Revolving Fund

Garissa residents, particularly youth and women, have been encouraged to apply for investment financing from the County’s Revolving Fund to establish income-generating ventures and improve their lot.

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Investment, and Enterprise Development, Mohamed Suleiman, emphasised the importance of initial capital in any enterprise initiative, thus calling on members of the public, to take advantage of the County’s initiative to establish a Revolving Fund.

“The Revolving Fund will help start or boost existing small-scale business enterprises. Beneficiaries need just to apply, get funding for their projects to uplift themselves, and thereafter, pay back, after a certain duration of time, as stipulated in the Funds Act,” Suleiman explained.

The CECM made the remarks in his Office, Garissa town, when he met Board Members of the Garissa County Revolving Fund, led by their Chairman, Mwalimu Ibrahim Atosh.

The meeting deliberated on the upcoming roll-out of the County Revolving Fund, whose 15 working days application window opens next Monday, February 26.

Sulaiman assured of transparency in the disbursement of the Fund and welcomed anybody willing to access the money, to apply starting Monday next week.

“Application is open for both individuals and registered groups, so no one should be left out,” the CEC highlighted.

His sentiments were echoed by Chairman Atosh, who guaranteed members of the public, of a free and fair process devoid of any form of discrimination in awarding the monies to individuals who applied.

“This time around, everything is guided by the Fund Act, which will ensure everything is done openly and above board as per the stipulated procedures and regulations,” Atosh affirmed.
