Chesumei MP rolls out Elimu Bora programme to enhance education

Chesumei Member of Parliament Paul Biego has rolled out an education support programme in which learners in day secondary schools will pay Sh1,500 for tuition.

The programme dubbed “Elimu Bora Initiative,” aims to make education affordable for thousands of students in day schools across the Constituency.

Speaking during the programme launch at Kosirai High School, the legislator stated that under this provision, students are only required to pay Sh1, 500 thus reducing the financial burden on parents hence minimise school dropouts.

According to the MP, the programme aims to guarantee equal access to quality education for all children in the Constituency and also represents a crucial step in uplifting the Constituency and investing in the future of children.

“Education is the only equalizer in life. Today we mark a significant milestone in the education sector with the launch of Elimu Bora programme so that our students enrolled in day schools can have quality and affordable education,” he said.

The programme is supported by the Chesumei National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), which has allocated Sh45 million this financial year for infrastructural development and to revamp the existing infrastructure in the day schools.

Beigo noted that the initiative eliminates the requirement for parents to provide maize and beans for lunchtime meals adding that the programme will cover everyone who gets a placement in the day school.

Leaders present lauded the initiative saying it’s one of a kind in the entire County and a relief for parents with children in day schools.

“We are here to celebrate one of its kind, model of education. The programme will transform the education sector in this Constituency and enable children from vulnerable families to access education,” said Nandi Hills legislator Bernard Kitur.
