Uasin Gishu Leaders welcome President Uhuru as he tours county on Friday

Leaders  from Uasin Gishu county have said they wholeheartedly welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta during his tour of  development  to  the county.

The  leaders took a swipe at a section of the press for trying to create a rift between State house and the residents of  Uasin Gishu and its leadership through unfounded reports.

The  Kapseret  MP, Oscar  Sudi  and his Soy counterpart, Caleb Kositany  said the commissioning of the Rift  Valley textile, Rivatex  company whose refurbishment at a cost of Sh.6 billion through the President’s support and funding from the Indian  government was a blessing for Uasin Gishu and the country at large.

Speaking  during  a  press briefing at Rivatex on Thursday  afternoon, Sudi  said it  was sad that a newspaper with national  circulation  was  carrying a misleading story on its front pages suggesting President Kenyatta was not welcome  to Uasin  Gishu or that certain local leaders would be barred from addressing the meeting.

Is  the paper  insinuating that someone was leaking information from State House? he posed adding that the reopening of  Rivatex  was a big opportunity to create employment for the youth and should not be politicised.

In  his  remarks, Kositany said it was not a must that all leaders speak during meeting attended by the President, “we shall   accommodate the programme  on Friday as presented,” he stressed.

Kositany  said  State  house  has  clearly stated that the working relationship between the President and his deputy William  Ruto  was cordial and people should not try to create a nonexistent rift between the two.
