Makueni County Government embraces cashless payment

The County Government of Makueni has embraced cashless payment by introducing Auto billing and Unified billing to ensure efficiency and effective revenue mobilization by leveraging on technology.

The initiative that was launched by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Thursday, is aimed at improving revenue collection, minimize corruption, create customer confidence and have accountability.

My government will leverage on technology to enhance customer service and improve ease of doing business,” said Mutula Jnr outside his Wote Town office where he officiated the event.

“All invoices will be issued digitally to the 27,400 business people through an SMS and at the convenience of your phones at the comfort of your homes,” he said.

The Governor warned the area residents against making any payment in cash while urging all those involved in revenue collection to stop receiving any cash for government services.

“We will not accept any revenue collection by cash payment from citizens. We will not allow that,” he noted.

“To our citizens, do not make any cash payment for any government service, permit or tax. Any money given in cash, the government will not be liable,” warned the Governor.

During the event, Mutula Jnr warned civil servants against working in silos and instead said there will be one government approach in offering services to Wananchi.

“I am determined to remove all silo approach in government, particularly in Lands and Urban Planning Department.  We want to leverage on technology and ensure cashless invoicing,” said Mutula.
