Hundreds show up to claim assets

Hundreds of Embu County residents turned up to try to recover the lost financial assets during the three-day clinic organized by the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA).

UFAA’s Head of Communication Paul Muya said they are attending to about 800 people daily during the outreach program at the Embu Stadium.

He said those with straightforward cases were helped to fill out the necessary paperwork and would get their money through their banks or Mpesa in two weeks.

Those with cases that need to go through a succession process were advised on how to acquire letters of administration.

Muya added that they were also working with the Judiciary which was holding onto a lot of money deposited by litigants and which the litigants did not claim after their cases were finalised.

The UFAA has said it is holding assets worth Sh63 billion, 32 billion of which is in cash and which it wants claimants to go for.

Residents interviewed by the media said they were happy that the clinic had given them a chance to be reunited with their lost assets.
