The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched the annual voter education process in Busia County.
Speaking during the official launch of the exercise at Busia Polytechnic on Tuesday, Busia County election Manager Fredrick Apopa said his team will sensitize locals about the entire election process and talk about the 2017 elections.
“We are going to be talking about issues of election technology, voter verification, result transmissions and boundary delimitation,” he said.
Apopa said that the aim was to engage with stakeholders and voters so that the locals understand what the election requires.
“We will be doing this in all the seven sub counties and I want to urge everybody to attend the sessions at the nearest place,” he said, adding that the exercise will run until Sunday this week.
He added that the exercise targets all the registered voters and youth who have attained 18 years and are yet to register as voters.
“We are also targeting stakeholders in the electoral process like political parties, Ministry of Interior, potential candidates and educational institutions,” he said.
He added that all residents with interest in the election process were invited.
The official at the same time said electoral boundary review will also be conducted and residents called upon to present their petitions and views.
“As we speak, we cannot make a blanket determination that a particular constituency will be scrapped off,” he said.
