Tragedy struck a village in Marakwet East when an estranged man shot dead three of his children and injured three others over suspected marital dispute.
David Kipkiror who hails from Tot division allegedly attacked his family at around 1.00am while they were asleep killing three of his young children aged 7, 4 and 3 while the older ones escaped with injuries.
According to Marakwet East deputy county commissioner Stephen Sangolo, Kipkiror had separated from his wife who left with the children to her parents’ home in Korou sub-location Embolot location.
Sangolo said police took the bodies to the mortuary while the injured were taken to the nearby Kamogo health centre before being referred to Iten county hospital for further treatment.
The deputy county commissioner said the wife who was the main target fled during the day after getting a tip off of what the husband was intending to do leaving behind the children.
Sangolo said all chiefs have been mobilized to look for the suspect who fled to Kerio Valley after committing the heinous act.
