Ijara MP and peace elders reconcile two warring Sub-clans

Peace elders have reconciled two warring sub clan living together at Gababa location of Ijara Sub County, Garissa County in an initiative sponsored by Ijara MP Abdi Ali Sheikhow.

The elders lead by Mzee Mohamed Abdi Aamet, Shukri Mohamed and Hassan Abdullahi said they gathered in Gababa Township 15km from Masalani Town to reconcile the two warring clans of Samawathal Community over injuries they inflicted on each other.

The talks were occasioned after a group of youth fought during a Somali traditional dance called star where one was seriously pierced with a dagger and the other one receiving several stitches at Masalani Sub County Referral hospital.

Further, the conflict turned sour when women who were selling milk tried to revenge and smashed each other with milk bottles causing injuries to six of them.

The Peace Committee Secretary Adan Ismail and Ijara Deputy Constituency Officer Manager Yussuf Ali told KNA that the warring clans of Abokor Abdalle and Ashantalis has buried the hatchet by paying compensation and treatment to the injured persons some of whom are recovering at Masalani Sub County Referral hospital.

Masalani Medical Superintendent Dr Mahat Idile confirmed that some of the injured persons were treated and discharged while three other are still receiving treatment at the referral hospital.

Ijara Deputy County Commissioner Wachira Cheboi called on restraint among the communities noting that the elders have taken the mantle of reconciling the warring two sub clans and called on Chiefs in the area to be extra vigilant to curb any other incident in future in the entire Ijara Sub County.
