Makueni County Department of Health Services yesterday flagged off 160 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) after comprehensive training on the use of CHP kits to advance preventive and Promotive healthcare.
The 160 forms the first cohort of the county’s 3,625 CHPs to be trained and handed the kits.
Health Services Chief Officer (CO) Dr. Stephen Ndolo said the remaining 3,465 will be trained in phases.
CHPs will benefit from the kit that has a smartphone installed with digital applications for Household mapping and follow-up assessment for diabetes and hypertension.
The Community Healthy Promoters are part of a Primary Care Network that links patients to Level Two and Level Three Health facilities.
They were flagged off by County Executive Committee Member for Health Dr. Paul Musila with his CO Stephen Ndolo at Green Park, Wote town.
