Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde commended Narok residents for coming out in large numbers to participate in the national event, asking the members of the public to continue planting trees until they achieve 4.3 million tree seedlings in three months.

He praised various departments, including the Youth Office, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), and prisons, who planted trees on their premises during the national tree-planting holiday.

Other key partners who participated in the tree planting exercise in various sub-counties included the Kenya Rural Roads Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, Net Fund, Kenya Water Towers Authority, Eden Restoration Organisation, Kenya Industrial Estates, and the Kenya Diary Board.

“We call upon all the stakeholders to continue planting trees until we achieve our target of 4.3 million trees. The trees will grow well because of the ongoing El Nino rains,” he said.

Narok GK Prison in Charge Benson Lomeri said they planted 2,300 tree seedlings at the prison premises. The tree seedlings included pine and acacia-xanthophloea indigenous trees that do well in the area.

Narok Senior Counsel at the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Duncan Ondimu, led his staff to plant 100 tree seedlings at the Information Office, while Narok Youth Director Joash Ratemo planted 100 seedlings at the Youth Office premises.

The major tree planting event in the county was led by Principal Secretary in Charge of Investment and Trade Abubakar Hassan and Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu at Enosupukia Forest in Narok East.
