Sh300million Laboso Wellness Centre almost complete

A Sh300 million Dr. Laboso Mother and Child Wellness Centre in Bomet is set to be commissioned by the Head of State in two months’ time.

This follows Bomet County Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok’s revelation that the project’s completion was within the set timelines and the facility’s contractor was putting in final touches.

Prof. Barchok said the completion of the hospital, situated along the Mulot-Bomet highway at the Youth Farmers Trading Centre, will contribute immensely to decongesting Longisa County Referral Hospital since it will be equipped with modern medical equipment such as MRI and CT scan machines.

He was speaking Wednesday when he, accompanied by the County Assembly Committee on Health chaired by Longisa Member of County Assembly Stephen Chang’morik, visited the facility on an inspection tour.

While commending the quality of the work at the facility, the governor urged the locals to seize the business opportunities that would come with the traffic of people seeking medical attention in the state-of-the-art facility.

The centre is named after the second Governor of Bomet and former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, the late Dr. Joyce Laboso.

At the same time, Prof. Barchok has lauded what he termed as immense contribution to the health and economic wellbeing of the area that has been brought about by the Kenya Medical Training College in Longisa.

He said this when he joined KMTC Longisa Campus Principal Alice Oriera during the reception ceremony for 100 newly admitted nursing students yesterday.

While acknowledging the myriad challenges facing the college currently, the County Boss said his administration would second some of its staff to address human resources issues as they deliberated with partners on the best way to solve the congestion problem at the facility.
